About

Welcome to East Coast By Choice, the online showcase for life on this side of Canada.

Kimberly Walsh (@AliasGrace)

Kimberly Walsh (a.k.a. @AliasGrace) graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations. She’s a freelance writer, communications strategist, social media consultant, and publicist. Her current contracts include: digital and online coordinator for Nimbus Publishing and festival publicist for the Atlantic Book Awards. Prior to that, for five years she was a web content producer, blogger and social media manager for CBC Books (Canada Reads & CBC Book Club). In her free time she’s actively involved in the books and publishing industry having founded and helped coordinate the inaugural BookCamp Halifax and as an associate at Book Madam. In 2003 she founded All Rights Reserved Literacy Journal Association where she volunteered for several years first as managing editor then on the board of directors. She lives in Halifax with her husband (a.k.a. Cokebaby) and their dachshund Tofu.

Lauren Oostveen (@laurenoostveen)

Lauren Oostveen (@laurenoostveen) also graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University with a degree in public relations. She works for Nova Scotia Archives & Records Management in Halifax where she puts old stuff on the internet and helps people connect with the province’s past. Lauren writes a movie column for the Chronicle Herald called SMASH CUT where she celebrates all things horror. Lauren also blogs for Spacing Atlantic and NovaScotia.com. She lives in Halifax with her cat Mia and may or may not have a Netflix addiction.

Colleen McKie (@Lavender_Lines)

Colleen McKie (@Lavender_Lines) did not graduate from Mount Saint Vincent, but rather St Francis Xavier (at least it’s in the same province, right?) with a degree in sociology and a minor in English. After previous lives as a pizza gal, customer service rep and a stint working with the RCMP (She’d tell you but then she’d have to kill you) Colleen settled into a freelance writing career ghostwriting expert articles and blog posts on a variety of topics. She also gushes and rants about books as Lavender Lines when she isn’t penning her own books.

Colleen shares a hundred year old farmhouse in Hunter River, PEI with her husband and a slew of animals, including a spoiled puppy-dude, eleven cats and a club-foot duck named Peepers.
