Gifted: I can’t imagine how frustrating it would be to come back “home” and not be able to fit in like you used to. I often wonder what it would be like to move back to Toronto but I think in a bigger city, particularly one with so much of an immigrant population, there are no insiders.

Queenie: I was fortunate enough to go back to school in my thirties so I met a number of great friends through there or work terms. But, at the same time, Cokebaby has had difficulty making his own friends here. You should definitely come out to a #halifaxchicks event or even a Third Wednesday if you can. A very welcoming group indeed! I foresee a future filled with good conversation, yummy food, and ample beverages.

Yes it is difficult to make friends here, I think for me it’s partly due to the age I got here, ie mid-thirties, people are busier. I often wonder is it the same for people who move to my part of the world… I think probably it is

I’m from here – but lived abroad and came back. Everything you say about making friendships here is true. I’ve been the outsider even though I’m an insider. Go figger!

And you are right, Twitter has been like a magical door. I was so happy to meet you guys that night.
