Donate 4 Dachshunds

For those of you who read about Tofu, you know how much he means to me. Now is our time to give back to less fortunate animals. I’m putting a candy striper shirt on Tofu for the month of April. Why? Well, over at Who’s Your Dachshund?, we’ll be supporting animal shelters from around the world through a special online charity event.

The 10 contributors of WYD have connected with nearby animal shelters from Nova Scotia to Illinois to South Africa. Our goal in the next 30 days is to raise $2,000 to split among these great shelters and cover the average medical needs of one newly rescued animal for each organization.

My charity of choice is Bide Awhile: a non-profit shelter in Dartmouth dedicated to the care of lost and neglected cats and dogs. One visit to their site several years ago was all it took for me to realize what a difference one facility can make in the lives of less fortunate animals than Tofu.

I know a lot of you who read this blog are hip to social media tools and that’s what can make the difference in not just meeting our goal but exceeding it. All it will take to quickly reach our goal is for each person who visits our site a donation of just $5 and spread the word the way you know best. You can donate using the widget below and you can even embed it into your own blog posts and Facebook profiles to recruit your friends!

For those who aren’t in a position to donate, remember that spreading the word is half the battle and every bit as important as giving. Feel free to copy this entire post and use it on your own blogs, Twitter, Facebook or MySpace notes and emails to friends. Please visit the dog blog for other templates that we’d love for you to use in support of our campaign.

Donate. Spread the word. Make a huge difference around the world.

That doesn’t sound so hard, does it?
